JobSeekers Frequently Asked Questions about Subscribing to JobSeekers

How do I receive regular job notifications ?

If you wish to receive notice that the JobSeekers website has been updated, then use the JobSeekers RSS feed http://www.asqbaltimore.org/jobseekers/feed/ to get notifications when information on the JobSeekers website changes.

Alternatively, you may sign up for JobSeekers by providing your email address in the “Subscribe” box at the bottom of the front of the website. You will receive a confirmation email that you must click in order to start receiving emails informing you of updates to the the JobSeekers program.  You may also follow the new ASQ JobSeekers Twitter feed – each new posting will appear on our twitter feed.

How do I subscribe ?

You may sign up for JobSeekers by providing your email address in the “Subscribe” box at the bottom of the front of the website. You will receive a confirmation email that you must click in order to start receiving emails informing you of updates to the the JobSeekers program.

This program is a complete OPT-IN program that requires you to manage your subscription (whether through Yahoo Groups, or through this website).

Do I need to join Yahoo Groups to get job notifications ?

At this time, the only way to get job notifications is to subscribe through the website, have already signed up for Yahoo Groups or to use the RSS feed.  You may also follow the new ASQ JobSeekers Twitter feed – each new posting will appear on our twitter feed.

You do not need to belong to Yahoo Groups any longer, subscriptions are available through the website.

I signed up, how do I unsubscribe ?
Please unsubscribe me

Yahoo Groups: Every JobSeekers notification distributed through Yahoo Groups has a number of links at the bottom of the email that allows you to control your account settings. One of these is the “Unsubscribe” link. Click on this to un-subscribe through Yahoo Groups. Additionally, you can log in to your Yahoo Groups account and change the group setting through the Yahoo Groups page. Note: The Placement committee does not have access to individual Yahoo account settings.

Website Subscribers: You may email us, or unsubscribe through the button at the bottom right of the front page.

Please change my e-mail address for my subscription

Yahoo Groups: Every JobSeekers notification distributed through Yahoo Groups has a number of links at the bottom of the email that allows you to control your account settings. You will need to change the email through Yahoo Groups (either by changing the email address through Yahoo, or removing yourself from the ASQBaltJobseekers and re-signing up). Note: The Placement committee does not have access to individual Yahoo account settings.

I changed my account settings with ASQ, and my JobSeekers e-mail settings did not change

JobSeekers is not managed through the email settings used by ASQ or ASQ Baltimore, it is a separate program.  The JobSeekers program is an OPT-IN program that you control through your Yahoo Groups settings or through the subscription box on the front of the JobSeekers website.

Is there a Daily / Weekly / Monthly digest available ?

At the moment, the only option for receiving emails from the JobSeekers website is to receive one email for every item posted on the site. This should not be a major impact, as 85% of the original JobSeekers received them in this format. The Yahoo group: ASQBaltJobSeekers will still continue to receive the email notices as before (that email is subscribed through Yahoo groups).

There are other possible options for mail distribution, but these will not be implemented in the near term.

How many emails will I receive regularly ?

The best way to figure out how regularly posts occur is to review the posts on the website, noting the dates of the postings.

In general, Job Postings are posted whenever they are received by other people, or found through research by the Placement Committee. Articles are generally posted once every other day, with other items of interest sprinkled throughout.

What do you do with my email address ?

At this time, the only thing done with the email address is to send you information on the postings to the JobSeekers program. JobSeekers is a voluntary email list, and we are bound by the Privacy Policy on the ASQ 0502 website.
