To ASQ Baltimore Members, Outreach members and friends,
The ASQ Website will be undergoing maintenance and some minor construction beginning Dec 10, 2010 (after the December Dinner Meeting).
It is hoped that any downtime experienced will be short and not too inconvenient.
Most of the changes will be “invisible” to the membership, but improved website speed, better email management, and potentially new features will be the results.
Thank you for your patience. Note that any emails sent to any asqbaltimore.org may not be seen or responded to during the maintenance window. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us (or use the contact form) prior to or after the maintenance window.
A notice will go out when the website maintenance is complete.
There are many ways to contribute to the JobSeekers program.
The initial / original way is to contribute Job Openings, as that always has been part of the original function of the JobSeekers program.
There are many other ways to contribute, but why should you? If you have been reading the articles on the website or performing your own research (probably very important in today’s economy), then you already know the answer.

The Website has new updated FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) pages. New questions have been asked and added to the site, including covering the new subscription system.
Questions have been clarified and re-arranged for easier review.

New Subscription model is now available.
If you do not wish to figure how to use/integrate the RSS feeds into your daily lives, you can now subscribe to the JobSeekers website without having to sign up to or through Yahoo Groups. JobSeekers now has its own subscription management system.
If you wish to sign up for receiving emails whenever there are new postings on the JobSeekers website, please subscribe. The subscription form is located at the bottom of the right sidebar.
Current Yahoo Groups users will no longer require Yahoo Groups to receive notifications, but can continue using Yahoo Groups if they would like. New subscribers can use the website to subscribe. Yahoo Groups subscribers can unsubscribe from Yahoo Groups and re-subscribe through the JobSeekers website, if they wish. There is no reason to at this time.
At the moment, the only option for receiving emails from the JobSeekers website is to receive one email for every item posted on the site. This should not be a major impact as 85% of the original JobSeekers received them in this format. The Yahoo group: ASQBaltJobSeekers will still continue to receive the email notices as before (that email is subscribed, just like everyone else).
If you have any questions, please contact
or use the contact form on this website.

To the Jobseekers members:
With the beginning of the new ASQ program year, there will be a number of changes being implemented for the JobSeekers program.
The webpage for the program has been revamped, turned into a full blog format and will be used to provide Job Information, the Employee resource information, Articles, an interactive Calendar of Events as well as Job Postings.
Why is this being done ?
- Some people do not like providing their email addresses to Yahoo
- Some people have requested that jobs be posted on the website, so they do not need to download the full packet or go to/belong to the Yahoo groups.
- No email list or memberships will need to be maintained. But, the plan is to have subscriptions for email notifications to implemented.
- Ultimately it will be easier for the person running the Jobseekers program to add jobs to the site, and to keep the members informed of various programs, etc. It will also be easy for other personnel to assist the current JobSeekers Chair with the JobSeekers program.
- Emails for the Career Fairs are only sent out “every once in a while”, so updates to the Career Fairs calendar will be immediate and available for everybody to view/use.
What will happen to the Yahoo Group ASQBaltimoreJobseekers
- At this time, the Yahoo Group / email list will remain in effect, running concurrently with the Jobseekers packet, and the new web site.
What will happen in the future ?
- At this time, I forsee moving from the Yahoo group mailing list being the primary Jobseeker communication and using the Jobseekers web blog to keep members (and anybody else) up to date on the Jobseeker information. The Jobseekers packet might also be reduced to simply the general information and web links or removed completely.
- The Yahoo Groups will remain in effect, in case the new situation does not work out. They will only receive a cursory email notifying them of the existence of the new web blog and be directed to go to it to get JobSeeker information.
What if I have any further questions/comments ?
- Please email to
.
