- ASQ Grants Fellow Status to 15 Members. Including two local Quality colleagues:
- Eugene D. Kirsch, Booz Allen Hamilton, Rockville, Md. — For exceptional contributions to the application of standards and quality engineering methods to the management of enterprise quality and risk performance.
- Robert J. Scanlon, Transportation Security Administration, Arlington, Va. — For exceptional effectiveness in the application of quality improvement tools and techniques for performance excellence in the manufacturing, service, and government sectors, and for dedicated service to ASQ through national and section positions and the nation as an examiner for the Baldrige National Quality Award.

ASQ has entered into an agreement with the American Productivity and Quality Center (APQC) to provide Full members with access to benchmarking content through the ASQ Knowledge Center. APQC is recognized as the primary provider of benchmarking studies related to quality and metrics. Much of the content applies to all industries and sectors.

Call for Nominations – Section Officers
The nomination period for our Section Officers is now open, and will close on March 8, 2011, at the March Section Board Meeting.
Nominations are requested for the following positions: Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.
Nominations should include the Name, Member Number, and a short bio or summary of qualifications.
There are numerous committees that are also open. Feel free to contact us about these as well.

Baltimore 56th Science Fair – Judges needed to volunteer
Judges needed to volunteer for the 56th Annual Baltimore Science Fair
The ASQ Baltimore Section has once again been invited to participate in the 56th Annual Baltimore Science Fair (http://www.baltimoresciencefair.org) to be held at Towson University. As in past years, the Baltimore Section will provide volunteer judges and awards to students participating in the Baltimore Science Fair. The Section has been continuously supporting the Science Fair for about 20 years.
- Section members volunteer as independent judges for ASQ and earn Recertification Points.
- Judging takes place on Saturday, March 26th, at the Towson University Student Union. On Saturday the commitment is from 8:30 AM until about 2 PM.
- The Awards Ceremony takes place on Sunday, March 27th. If you can assist in presenting the awards, the commitment is from 3:30 PM until about 5 PM at the Towson University Student Union.
- Judges from our ASQ Section will adjudicate the student exhibits for their use and understanding of statistical principles and statistical thinking and provide recognition awards.
- The Section will also recognizes teams of students for effectively working together to solve their chosen problem.

The Fair attracts winners of school and county-based science fairs from Maryland’s Baltimore Region. Students represent public and private schools and home schools. Students come from middle (Division 1) and high (Division 2) schools within Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, and Howard Counties and Baltimore City. The Fair is now operated by the non-profit Baltimore Science Fair Foundation and is additionally sponsored by the following organizations: Towson University, Lockheed Martin Corp., Baltimore County Public Schools, Constellation Energy Group, and Howard Co Public Schools. The Baltimore Section of ASQ is a contributing supporter.

Winners from the Baltimore Science Fair will compete in the International Science and Engineering Fair in May.
This is a great way to give back to the local community.
